Wedges

MT-28 V3
A wedge that allows all the shots a pro would ever need, with a newly designed sole, optimized for each loft and bounce setting. The precision of the face flatness is further improved with twice as much time spent for “mirror face” milling, and with even greater spin characteristics, we have perfected the ultra high-performance wedge.

Development Concept

  1. Outstanding spin characteristics
  2. Designed to satisfy even the pros
  3. Mirror-face milling for increased spin (2 times more time spent on milling)
  4. Two finish options: Non-plated with TF treated for rust protection, and nickel chrome plated
  5. Sole optimized for individual lofts
  6. 8°bounce for ideal “bounce”
  7. Bounce adjustment through face alignment allowing varied techniques
  8. A lineup designed for the “4-wedge Era”

Head Overview

■Shape

A slightly protruding head offset encourages picking of the ball and allows for depth of technique.

■Face

Designed to be easily addressable in various alignments, catering to a wide variety of swing types, from controlled to full shots.

■ Sole and bounce

・ The sole is optimized for individual lofts and bounces.

[8°Bounce] By rounding the sole from the leading edge through to the back of the sole, the sole can provide enough “bounce” despite the low degree of bounce. This allows for even more flexibility in shots through face alignment and bounce adjustment.

[A wedge] The A wedge has been designed to provide more trajectory stability for long approach shots and full shots. With a slightly larger bounce, it provides more consistent results for longer shots and prevents getting under the ball too much for mis-hit/ballooned shots.

High-Precision Milling Process

■Added precision for face flatness with “mirror face” milling

The flatness of the face has been increased even more with “mirror face” milling, taking twice as much time as traditional processes. This improves contact between the face and ball for increased spin together with improved shot stability.

■Sharp grooves

As the key to spin, the process of carving out the grooves one-by-one provides the sharpest edges possible. This allows for extreme spin for approach shots from around the green.

■Material

The head uses forged nickel chrome molybdenum, excelling in durability for extended spin longevity.

Finish

■Non-plated TF treated finish

By applying nitrogen to the surface with a diffusion coating technique, the nitrogen and carbon penetrate the surface and form a nitriding chemical compound layer for rust prevention and durability. The wedge maintains its soft feel and spin even with the sharp looking, slightly black finish.

■Nickel chrome plated satin finish

With the satin finish and a blasted face, the design achieves good matching with irons. The progression from irons to wedges feels completely natural, and the high-precision milling provides greater spin than ever.
