TB-1000 FORGED Design Lead, Muneyuki Matsuyoshi

Our newly designed muscle-back iron, born to satisfy the demands of tour pros
Modern, high performance golf balls are designed for low spin and more carry on tee shots. The problem is that for pros, you also get low spin on long iron shots and, incidentally, too much carry. More and more tour pros these days demand spin from their long irons, ultimately for greater ball control. We listened to what the pros had to say and developed the TB-1000 FORGED iron.
The head is only the smaller side, but we've managed to keep the CG length from growing too small. Blades have traditionally had their CG closer to the heel, but with the TB-1000 FORGED we've achieved a figure of 34.2mm (#5-iron). Golfers who have grown accustomed to cavity back irons shouldn't have to change their swing style to get the most out of this blade.
We're also proud of how easy the shorter irons are to hit. Generally, short irons have a smaller club head, and thus the CG length gets shorter, so even for more advanced, higher head speed players, this creates ball contact inconsistencies. With the TB-1000 FORGED, we've reduced the gap between CG lengths in the long irons and short irons, which is evident in the consistency and feel.
So the long irons aren't super forgiving, and the short irons won't give you 5 extra yards of distance. What we have created, however, is a soft forged tour model perfect for pros or low handicappers who are serious about getting the most out of their equipment. This is the definitive tour blade.
■ TB-1000 FORGED
The newest tour blade, packed with performance features for attacking the green with high, consistent trajectories and outstanding spin characteristics. This iron is Fourteen's pride and joy, designed with a focus on the features that modern pros demand in serious competition and shot purity through progressive CG length gap reduction.

TC-550 Design Lead, Muneyuki Matsuyoshi

Low-CG characteristics and a high MOI...this is the smoothest iron around
As the successor to the TC-660, we have taken everything that made the 660 so successful, and made the TC-550 an even easier club, pushing the boundaries of iron performance. While keeping the somewhat smaller build of the head and high MOI, we also have managed to sink the CG even lower. What you get is a smooth, crisp, and easy iron, with the highest, most stable trajectories around.
The problem with other low-CG irons out there is that despite how easy they seem to play, they have a major drawback. Lowering the CG is typically done with tungsten weighting, and this concentrates the weight into a center-point, thus lowering the MOI and the clubs forgiveness. Some low-CG irons even have lower MOIs (or smaller sweet spots) then tour blades.
In the TC-550, we have left weight in the toe and heel and lowered the CG with a delicate undercut to the cavity and precise adjustments to the face thickness. Through a lot of experimentation and hard work, we finally were able to realize our goal of a high performance iron that marries low-CG qualities with a high MOI.
I shouldn't neglect to mention that we haven't sacrificed good looks in our creation of the 550?it fits perfectly into the classic lineup of Fourteen golf clubs. Also, because we managed to build the club head simply with the best materials (and not using tungsten weights and such) the feel and sound are also top class. I am really proud to say that this is a highly polished iron, and golfers looking for such should look no further.
■ TC-550
With a high MOI and our lowest CG ever, the ball leaps of the club face with ease in this evolutionary iron design. Out to satisfy golfers looking for the highest performance in an iron, we also take pride in the fine looks and feel of the TC-550, a world apart from other "low CG" irons and perfection in iron design.
