UT-106 Design Lead, Takeshi Ichigo

The accuracy of irons and the ease of short woods combined
The UT-106 is Fourteen's first wood type hybrid club. Until now, we've focused mainly on iron type hybrids targeting low handicap players. Even pros and advanced players have their difficulties with long irons, so our hollow-head iron hybrids have been made to ease this area of the game.
Recently, there's a trend in irons in which we are seeing stronger lofts, which means that for low head speed players, even middle irons are getting tougher to hit. With the UT-106, we've achieved an incredibly low CG and high MOI, so unlike the iron hybrids that pros and advanced players have grown accustomed to, average head speed players can easily get a hold of the ball, for long, stable middle shots.
One big difference between the UT-106 and short woods, however, is how easy target alignment is. While short woods can be easy to hit, it's also hard to tell exactly which way the face is aimed and accuracy issues arise. The UT-106 is indeed a wood-type hybrid, but it has the alignment characteristics of an iron to zero in on the target.
The UT-106, combining the ease of short woods and the alignment properties of iron hybrids, can serve as a substitute for long to middle irons, covering your club requirements for a wide range of distances and shot types. We consider this a truly groundbreaking club.
■ UT-106
This wood hybrid was created for average golfers as a substitute for long to mid irons. It captures the ease of address found in iron hybrids and the smoothness of short woods, covering a wide range of distances and shot types.

HI-550 Design Lead, Muneyuki Matsuyoshi

The new hybrid that makes towering long iron shots a reality
All the Fourteen hybrid irons up until now have been made to be an extension of the iron set, with the idea in mind of putting hollow-head long irons in the bag for to make those clubs easier to hit. With the HI-550, however, we want it to stand alone as a trusty, stand-alone hybrid, and have designed and created it as such.
While widening the sole and lowering the CG of the HI-550, and also giving the sole a gliding, fairway wood-like quality, we have managed to really make the face of the club head a focal point for enhanced targeting properties as a hybrid iron, and opened up the door for high, stable, long-range shots.
Also exposing the back of the club to reveal the cavity really seems to give it a crisp, lofty feeling. Combining this with the super low CG design has given us a super “user friendly” head design.。
The face and neck joint has been made relatively small. The straight neck type clubs generally promote more of a difficult image, but this design has let us create a club head that accommodates a variety of swing types/planes and suits a wide range of golfers.
We offer the HI-550 in #2 - #5 lofts, but we especially recommend the #4 and #5 for golfers who typically have trouble with long irons.
■ HI-550
Designed to be a long iron or fairway wood replacement, it fuses the merits of both. It offers high, easy shots, the accuracy and stability of hollow-head iron hybrids, and a confidence inspiring profile. We recommend this iron hybrid to any golfer, of any level.
